1. Once you unzip the skin file you downloaded you will see a number of folders inside.
1. Once you unzip the skin file you downloaded you will see a number of folders inside.
2. Uploading the proper folders to your server:
Inside of the FTP_Files folder you will see the folders that you need to upload to your server. The folders inside will always contain the xenomorph folder and the folder for your skin (in this example we are using the resurgent skin)
Now that you know what files you need to upload, FTP those folders that are located "inside" of the FTP_Files to your server. Make sure you upload those folders to your forum root/styles folder on your server:
3. Now it's time to install the skin framework file. Please follow the below steps exactly as described (the skins rely on parent and child settings). Open up the Style_XML folder and you will see a number of folders.
Log into your Admin Panel and navigate to the Appearance tab.
Next click on the Import a Style link you see on the left hand side in the screen shot below.
Once you click that link you will get to this screen below:
It is very important that you navigate to the STYLE_XML/INSTALL_FIRST folder: This contains the core XenoMorph framework that all of our skins will run off of.
You must make sure when uploading the framework file that you have the radio check box set to "Child of Style / (no parent style)".
Once you have selected the file as seen above click the import button (once you do that you will see the software rebuilding the templates and cache in the Admin panel /let it finish)
4. Now we will import the "skin" file (this must be the second .XML file you import):
Now you will click the Import a Style link again, but this time you will navigate to the STYLE_XML/INSTALL_SECOND folder:
Choose the .XML file inside of that folder (the .XML file name should be the same name as the skin you purchased).
When importing this file you must have the radio check box set to "Child of Style / (and now choose the XenoMorph Framework as the parent). The XenoMorph style is the core framework that does all of the work behind the scenes and this is also what our skins will use as a base.
Once you have selected the file as seen above click the import button (once you do that you will see the software rebuilding the templates and cache in the Admin panel /let it finish)
When completed your skin structure should look like this on your server.
5. Importing any extra skin variations such as a different width, different color options, etc. (if offered.)
After completing step #4 the main skin you purchased will be installed. You only need to follow this step if you wish to install the extra skin options.
To install any extra skin options repeat step #4 BUT you need to do two things differently:
1. You are going to navigate to the STYLE_XML/INSTALL_THIRD folder: Depending on which skin you purchased this folder may or may not exist and it may contain one or more .XML files.
2. Instead of choosing the XenoMorph Framework as the parent style you are now going to choose the main skin you installed in step #4 as the parent style:
Repeat this step for all additional extra skin options found inside of the
STYLE_XML/INSTALL_THIRD folder. Example: for the resurgent skin you will see 2 extra files (one skin is a fluid width option and the other has a different background).
6. Congratulations, you are now done.
If you have followed the installation steps above your Style scheme should look like the screenshot below when viewed in your Admin panel: You will see the styles are basically setup in a tree format, the core XenoMorph framework as the main style / then core skin file as a child of the framework / then any "extra" skin option as a child of the core skin file.
